The Dessin Animal Shelter Board of Directors is pleased to announce the appointment
of Richard L. Forman as Executive Director of the Dessin Animal Shelter
.

Dessin’s Board President, Clarissa Wimmers, said, “We are very excited about Dessin’s vision to help all homeless animals in this community find a loving home. The addition of the Executive Director position will greatly assist us in reaching our long term goals”. Dessin board member, Martha Sader added that, “Dick Forman brings a wealth of knowledge about non-profit organizations. He has served as Education Director and Executive Director of construction associations and he has been on the Board of Directors of such groups as the Kimberly Life Line Fund, the Society for Environmental Economic Development and the Alliance for Action.”

Forman is a graduate of Cornell University and holds a Master of Education degree from the University of Houston. His duties will include expansion of Dessin’s fund raising efforts as well as growing the off-site adoption program, spay-neuter programs and foster care for animals with special needs. “With the solid support of this community, we can find homes for these remarkable animals,” said Mr. Forman. “A committed board of directors, a dedicated staff and public support for the vision of saving every adoptable animal will bring success. I am thrilled to be a part of the Dessin Shelter family."

Dessin’s thrift store, The Cat’s Pajamas is a seven-day-a-week operation. Proceeds from the Cat’s Pajamas go directly to Dessin’s programs and operations. The Cat’s Pajamas will also be under Mr. Forman’s direction.

Assisting the Executive Director will be Dessin’s Senior Management team of Susan Frisch, Sarah Hiller, Marlene Metzger and Laura Vernacchia.

We are so very proud of Laura Talaga who has been accepted into Veterinary School.

You will remember Laura as our valiant hiker who walked the entire Appalachian Trail last year and raised $10,000 for Dessin.  She is now headed to Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine.  We know she will be a WONDERFUL vet and are happy for all the animals who will benefit from her care.

Laura has been a lifelong volunteer and supporter of Dessin.  We love her almost as much as the animals do!

Good luck Laura, we'll miss you!
